What is GENKI? GENKI is a highly acclaimed series of integrated resources for learning elementary Japanese through a well-balanced approach to all four language skill areas—speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Divided into two volumes, the 23 lessons of GENKI introduce students to a wide range of elementary grammar points, nearly 300 kanji, and approximately 1,100 vocabulary terms. GENKI also incorporates many words and expressions that are closely tied to students’ everyday lives, and provides a full lineup communicative practice. GENKI is designed to make it easier for instructors to prepare student-centered lessons that are as fun as they are effective—another reason why GENKI is used in many Japanese language courses around the world. Textbooks I The textbooks are divided into two volumes: Textbook I (Lessons 1–12) and Textbook II (Lessons 13–23). Each volume consists of two sections: “Dialogue and Grammar” and “Reading and Writing.” The CD accompanying each textbook contains six hours of audio material in MP3 files. Pauses are inserted in the Dialogue, Vocabulary, and Practice audio material to give students time to pronounce the utterances, thus helping them to study more effectively. Dialogue and Grammar audio material Dialogue: No pauses in the first recording. Second reading features a pause after each sentence to allow students to repeat it. Vocabulary: Japanese vocabulary terms and their English equivalents. Practice: All practices marked with in the textbook and their answers. Reading and Writing audio material Reading: Recordings of the readings of every lesson. Unchanged parts from previous edition; Construction: 23 Lessons "Dialogues and Grammar" "Reading and Writing"(Vol.1:1-12) Contents(Conversation, Vocabulary, Grammar, Practice, Note, Column, Culture Noes) Modified parts; 1. Instructions of overall contents in the begging. 2. Words/Word lists will be updated. 3. Some conversation and reading contents will be modified. 4. Grammar notice will be easier to understand. 5. Contents and structure of practice parts will be revised. 6. Voice data can be downloaded via application by a serial code, not CD-ROM.
